Competition Rules

  1. The South African Young Lions competition is conducted by Ster-Kinekor Theatres, a division of Primedia (Pty) Limited (Registration Number: 2005/044403/07), hereinafter referred to as "Cinemark".
  2. No director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant or anybody associated with organising this competition and any spouse, life partner, parent, brother, sister, business partner or associate of such person is allowed to participate.
  3. The competition runs from 9am on Monday 5 March 2012 until 9am on Wednesday 7 March 2012. No late entries will be accepted.
  4. To enter the competition each entrant must:
    1. be 28 years or younger i.e. born on or after 23 June 1983.
    2. be a South African citizen.
    3. be valid passport holders.
    4. work in teams of two and register as a team in order to participate in the competition.
    5. be able and willing to attend the 2012 Cannes Festival in France from 17 - 20 June 2012 as stipulated herein.
  5. By participating in this competition, all entrants agree to be bound by these official rules. Cinemark's decision regarding any matter arising out of this competition shall be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
  6. The Submission
    1. Creative teams will be allowed to enter a maximum of one print poster adverts.
    2. All work submitted must be original and created by the creative teams.
    3. Work must be submitted to the Cinemark/Young Lions website at www.cinemark.co.za/young_lions before the stipulated closing dated.
    4. Work must be uploaded on the Cinemark/Young Lions website in JPG format only with a maximum file size of 2Mb each.
    5. Cinemark will retain entries and material received for use in presentations and/or exhibitions organised by Cinemark.
    6. These reproductions may be shown at such times and at such places, as Cinemark in its absolute discretion deems appropriate. Under no circumstances will the entrant be entitled to a royalty or any other compensation for such use of entries. The entrant and/or the legal guardian hereby grants permission for such use.
    7. If there is any claim by a third party rightly including, without limitation any defamation, infringement of intellectual property rights, passing off, wrongful use of and/or disclosure of confidential information, then the entrant indemnifies and holds Cinemark harmless from and against any or such claims and all costs, expenses, liabilities and damages (including without limitation legal fees which may arise there from).
  7. The prize
    1. One creative team will be chosen as the winner of this competition.
    2. The prize will include the following:
      1. The winning team will be entered to compete in the International Cannes Young Lions competition, held in Cannes, France, as South African representatives.
      2. Return economy class flights to Nice, France.
      3. Visa costs.
      4. 4 Day Young Lions Registration (17 - 20 June 2012).
      5. Hotel Accommodation.
      6. Spending money to the value of R3500 per team. Any other costs will be for the entrant's account.
  8. The winners grant permission for the use of their names, photographs and creative works in advertising and promotional material, including Cinemark's website, for this promotion and any future publications without claim to any compensation.
  9. The prize is not transferable or redeemable for cash unless Cinemark cannot provide the prize for whatever reason, in which case the prize offered, at the discretion of Cinemark, will be of equal monetary value to the initial prize. The winners agree to accept the prize as is, at their own risk and Cinemark will not be held liable or responsible for any claim howsoever arising.
  10. In the event of Cinemark not being able to contact the winners Cinemark reserves the right to draw another entry.
  11. Entrants and winners absolve Cinemark, its affiliates, its advertising agencies, advisors, suppliers, nominated agents and dealers from liability from any and all claims howsoever arising, including from willful misconduct or negligent acts or omissions on the part of any such person.
  12. Cinemark reserves the right to alter or cancel the competition at its discretion. In the event of such cancellation or alteration, all entrants and the winners shall waive and abandon any rights they (he/she) may have against Cinemark, its affiliates or associated companies.
